Park City Bus Stop Improvements
Project Background
During the development of the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP) and Park City Forward, community members consistently emphasized the need to improve bus stops across Park City. That feedback helped shape an effort to redesign and enhance bus stops and strengthen first- and last-mile connections to transit throughout the community. Park City has secured federal, state, and local funding sources, which will cover approximately 85% of the costs to improve 83 bus stops across the community.
Individual bus stops were prioritized based on a 2018 Bus Stop Inventory and Accessibility Study, which evaluated ADA compliance, amenities, accessibility, ridership, and site conditions at each bus stop. Priorities were also guided by project readiness and feasibility, with some locations deferred to better align with future redevelopment.
This project enhances transit stops and connections to transit, making it easier, safer, and more comfortable to get around Park City without relying on a car. Bus stop upgrades include ADA-accessible boarding areas, shelters, seating, real-time information, and amenities like bike and ski racks. The project also enhances pedestrian and bicycle connections and adds safety features, such as traffic calming measures and improved sidewalks and crosswalks, to create a more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly mobility system.

Project Phasing
Given the size and complexity of this project, it has required several years of planning and engineering work and is being constructed over numerous years. The timeline below reflects our current plan, though some improvements may shift during construction depending on contractor availability and efficiency.
- 2024: 18 bus stops were upgraded, and nine new shelters were installed. Additional amenities such as benches and trash cans were also included at select stops.
- 2025 – Spring 2026: Planning and design were underway for the remaining 65 bus stops planned for construction in 2026 and 2027.
- May - December 2026: Stops planned for upgrades are being revised based on direction provided by City Council on April 30th. This page will be updated shortly.
- May - December 2027: Stops planned for upgrades are being revised based on direction provided by City Council on April 30th . This page will be updated shortly.
You may have seen that some of the bus shelters constructed in 2024 include public art! Keep an eye out as we, in collaboration with the Park City Public Art Advisory Board, add additional artwork as new shelters are constructed this summer.
Construction
Construction is likely to occur between the end of May and December of 2026 and 2027. The contractor will work methodically across the community to ensure construction impacts at each stop location are brief.
The City will provide periodic construction updates throughout the project. Our contractor will also communicate directly with affected property owners.
Please see the map below, highlighting which stops are programmed for construction in 2026 and 2027. Please note, this is subject to change based on contractor availability.
Park City Bus Stop Improvements Map
The following interactive map shows when and where bus stops are slated for improvement. The stops shown in green were constructed in 2024. The stops shown in shades of blue are slated for construction in 2026, and stops shown in shades of purple are slated for construction in 2027. Construction timelines are subject to change based on contractor availability.
The team is actively updating this map, indicating which bus stops are planned for upgrades in each year based on direction received from City Council on April 30th. The map will be upgraded shortly.
