Park City Bus Stop Improvements
Project Background
During the development of the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP) and Park City Forward, community members consistently emphasized the need to improve bus stops across Park City. That feedback helped shape an effort to redesign and enhance bus stops and strengthen first- and last-mile connections to transit throughout the community. Park City has secured federal, state, and local funding sources, which will cover approximately 85% of the costs to improve 83 bus stops across the community.
Individual bus stops were prioritized based on a 2018 Bus Stop Inventory and Accessibility Study, which evaluated ADA compliance, amenities, accessibility, ridership, and site conditions at each bus stop. We prioritized improvements based on project readiness and feasibility, and deferred some locations to align with future redevelopment.
This project enhances transit stops and connections to transit, making it easier, safer, and more comfortable to get around Park City without relying on a car. Bus stop upgrades include ADA-accessible boarding areas, shelters, seating, real-time information, and amenities like bike and ski racks. The project also enhances pedestrian and bicycle connections and adds safety features, such as traffic calming measures and improved sidewalks and crosswalks, to create a more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly mobility system.

Project Phasing
Given the size and complexity of this project, it has required several years of planning and engineering work and is being constructed over an extended period. The timeline below reflects our current plan, though some improvements may shift during construction depending on contractor availability and efficiency.
- 2024: 18 bus stops were upgraded, and nine new shelters were installed. Additional amenities such as benches and trash cans were also included at select stops.
- 2025 – Spring 2026: Planning and design were underway for the remaining 65 bus stops planned for construction in 2026 and 2027.
- June - December 2026: A total of 38 bus stops are planned for upgrades in 2026. In June, we plan to upgrade four stops along Monitor Drive. In June and July, we will upgrade seven stops along Park Avenue in conjunction with a slurry and stripping project to extend the roadway's lifespan. In August and September, we will upgrade four stops along the Snow Creek Shopping Center and along Kearns Boulevard. In September and October, we will upgrade 12 stops in the Prospector neighborhood. Lastly, in mid-October through the end of the construction season, we will upgrade 11 stops in Upper Deer Valley.
- April - December 2027: The remaining 27 bus stops will be upgraded in 2027. Please check here ahead of the 2027 construction season for more information on sequencing.
You may have seen that some of the bus shelters constructed in 2024 include public art! Keep an eye out as we, in collaboration with the Park City Public Art Advisory Board, add artwork to new shelters being constructed this summer.
Construction
Construction is scheduled to begin in early to mid-June 2026 and last through the end of the construction season (weather dependent). The contractor will work methodically across the community to ensure construction impacts at each stop location are brief.
The City will provide periodic construction updates here, and our contractor will communicate directly with affected property owners.
Please see the map below, which highlights the stops programmed for construction in 2026 and 2027. Please note that this is subject to change based on contractor availability.
Park City Bus Stop Improvements Map
The following interactive map shows when and where bus stops are slated for improvement. The stops shown in green were constructed in 2024. The stops shown in shades of blue are slated for construction in 2026, and stops shown in shades of purple are slated for construction in 2027. Click on a bus stop to see the planned improvements at that location.
