On January 30, 2020, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 2020-09(External link), reducing setback, open space, and parking requirements for AMPDs (Staff Report(External link); Minutes(External link), p. 6).
On October 28, 2020, the Planning Commission conducted a work session on reduced parking for AMPDs (Staff Report(External link); Minutes(External link), p. 3).
On November 11, 2020, the Planning Commission conducted a work session on increased height for AMPDs (Staff Report;(External link) (External link)(External link)Minutes(External link), p. 4).
On December 9, 2020, the Planning Commission held a work session on affordable and market-rate units for AMPDs ((External link)(External link)Staff Report(External link); Minutes(External link), p. 14).
On January 27, 2021, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed code (Staff Report(External link); Audio(External link)).
On February 20, 2021, the Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the proposed code and may forward a positive recommendation for the City Council’s consideration on February 25, 2021.

On February 25, 2021, the City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 2021-10, establishing AMPDs in the Residential Development, Residential Development Medium, Residential Medium, Recreation Commercial, General Commercial, Light Industrial, and Community Transition Zoning Districts. The Council directed staff to explore the possibility of AMPDs in non-residential Historic Zoning Districts. Staff will bring the AMPD code to the Historic Preservation Board on April 7 for a recommendation on AMPDs in the Historic Recreation Commercial and Historic Commercial Business Zoning Districts.
