Staff Report: Park City Soils Management Facility – Follow Up Discussion
Managing and mitigating soils associated with construction projects in Park City is expensive and resource-intensive. The City has a number of public projects upcoming that will require extensive mitigation. The City is evaluating options regarding the development of a Soils Management Facility at the Gordo site to reduce costs, reduce its carbon footprint, and address safety concerns. The Council received a briefing about this project and conducted a public hearing on July 15, 2021. Staff seeks direction on next steps based on that briefing and hearing.

Discussion scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.
To provide the public with information for informed stakeholder participation regarding the proposed Park City Soils (Gordo) Management Facility, Council will review outreach tools, resources, and engagement strategies, and provide input for implementation by the project management team. Staff is aware of the concerns raised in the community and the desire to deepen our level of engagement and education prior to taking additional action on the proposed repository.

Neighborhood and Stakeholder Presentations
City staff is holding a series of virtual and in-person information sessions with stakeholders. Staff, elected officials and environmental experts will participate, listen to stakeholder’s comments and concerns, and provide live answers to questions about the project.
