Project Overview

In 2019, Park City received funding from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to make biking and walking improvements in the Thaynes Canyon/Three Kings area. To move things along faster, the project will be completed in phases. Recently, Summit County gave the project additional funding to continue work on the next phases.

Phase I

Phase I will focus on two main areas: Thaynes Canyon Drive (from Three Kings Drive to SR-224) and Snow Creek Drive (from SR-224 to the McLeod Trailhead). The goal is to create a path along Thaynes Canyon Drive and add sidewalks along Snow Creek Drive to make it easier and safer for people to reach both the Farm and McLeod Trails. To address speeding on Thaynes Canyon Drive, traffic calming measures will be included, but no parking will be added.

The design for this phase will be ready this winter, and construction is planned for spring to fall of 2025. More updates will be shared as they come. Pictured below are the Phase 1 renderings.

With new funding from the County, the city also studied future improvements for the area. Phase II will focus on connecting Thaynes Canyon Drive to the resort area, likely by building a shared-use path along Three Kings Drive.

Planning for Phase II will start at the end of winter, with construction beginning in spring 2026 and wrapping up in fall 2026.
